because they are so used to selling themself short and don't know or have not been shown by the field how to value their own work. time is money they always say but why are dancers not paid for their time like any other expert. it takes far more training and hours to even be able to perform so there should be compensation for that. lastly i think the discomfort is systemic - dancers need to get out there and talk about money and figure a way to help each other make more so that we are not continuously a "struggling artist".
